Toyota Ranks on 2020 Top 50 Companies for Diversity List

2019 Toyota Lineup | Mishawaka, IN

When it comes to hiring a diverse workforce, Toyota is one of the best in the automotive industry. In fact, Toyota was recently ranked 10th among the 2020 Top 50 Companies for Diversity. It was the only automotive manufacturer in the top 10 and only one of two in the top 50.

Toyota was first included on this list in 2013, where it was ranked 48th. In 2019, it ranked as 18th. This forward progression over the years shows how committed Toyota is to diversity and inclusion.

Helping Toyota achieve such a high ranking is its dedication to supporting diversity programs like the Boys and Girls Clubs of America along with working towards closing the gender gap in STEM fields.

“Across North America, we are building and strengthening partnerships with allies who embrace a common goal — to create a more inclusive society that celebrates and is enriched by our differences, which we view as an especially important attribute during these challenging times,” said Sandra Phillips Rogers, chief diversity officer and chief legal officer at TMNA.

Toyota leaders and employees also dedicate themselves towards volunteering and community service. The company has more than 95 employee groups called Business Partnering Groups that work to encourage inclusion and diversity. More than 40 percent of employees at Toyota’s North American headquarters are involved with one of these groups.
