Toyota Built a WHO-Certified Land Cruiser to Deliver Vaccines

Toyota Land Cruiser

There are two core values that define everything Toyota does: caring about drivers and building vehicles that go above and beyond. The latest example of that commitment takes the form of several custom Land Cruiser SUVs designed to transport COVID-19 vaccines to under-serviced areas.

In order to transform these commercial commuters into immunity mobiles, Toyota outfitted a set of Land Cruisers with 14-cubic-foot refrigerators that can store both COVID vaccines and other medicine — especially for children — at the appropriate temperature. The cold storage units were provided by B-Medical Systems, and each one can hold up to 400 doses. Better yet, the setup was officially certified by the World Health Organization.

It should come as no surprise that the Land Cruiser is more than up to the challenge of distributing vaccines, even in harsh conditions. It boasts four-wheel drive, a 4.5-liter turbo-diesel engine, and a pair of sturdy axles. It’s also the sole source of power for the refrigerator, which says a lot about its overall capabilities. You may not be able to snag one of these custom vaccine-delivery machines for everyday use around Mishawaka, IN, but you can check out some other exceptional vehicles at Jordan Toyota. Trust us; they’re all designed with you in mind
